Reading session replays without chasing ghosts
Practical guidance for using session replays during conversion funnel analysis for commerce applications without overreacting to one-off quirks.
Session replays are useful in conversion funnel analysis for commerce applications, but they reward pattern hunting more than dramatic single sessions.
A simple sampling rule
For a path step with meaningful volume, watch at least twelve completed attempts and twelve exits at that step before naming a friction theme. Note device, login state, and whether a coupon was applied—those three filters remove most “ghost” stories.
Pair replay with a live purchase
Replay compression can hide slow payment SDK loads. We still run a live guided purchase on the same build. If replay shows rage clicks on “Pay” but the live pass completes in under two seconds, investigate instrumentation lag before redesigning the button.
When you need a structured pass across the whole path, start with the commerce conversion funnel review.
